Parson's Pond: Located on the west coast of the Great Northern Peninsula, this community had, in 2016, a population of 345 (a decrease of 9.9% since the earlier census in 2011 when 383 were enumerated).
It was originally called Sandy Bay, after the bay that the town was on. As to its current name, there are two theories on how the community got its name.
Local lore says that it was named to honor Rev. Isaac Parsons, a visiting clergyman; however, others believe it was named after visitors from the Bonne Bay area, in which it is known there were several Parson families.
The area of the coast around Parson's Pond has a number of shoals, however just south of town is Three Mile Rock which gets it name from a rock that marks an area in which boats can be safely pulled out of the water safely.
Back in the early days of off shore fishing, Three Mile Rock became the lobster fishing station for Parson's Pond. Today there are approximately 80 residents in the community.
