BAY L'ARGENT:
The actual Bay L'Argent is not shown on the Cook and Lane's map. Bay L'Argent, translates to mean "Bay of Silver". The community with the same name, Bay L'Argent, is important today as it is the east terminal of the ferry that goes across Fortune Bay to Pool's Cove on the Connaigre Peninsula.
The name of the bay is believed to come from the cliffs that surround the bay - in the right light, they appear to be silver coloured when the sunlight is refracted off them.
First settled between the 1830s and 1840s, it is still a viable community with a population of 241, a decrease of 15.4% from 2011 when there were 285 inhabitants.
