Triton Island, slightly to the cast, has one community, that of Triton.

Triton, according to ENL sources encompassed the cast end of Triton Island and included Triton West (aka Great Triton), Jim's Cove and Card Harbour.

As mentioned earlier in the discussion of Traytown, "Triton appears in early records as Troytown, Traytown, Treaton and Tory Town- and probably owes it origin to English West Country usage of "Troytown" to refer to a maze; either a reference to the complexity of Great Triton Harbour or to the difficulty of navigating through off-lying islands to enter Little Triton Harbour.

Hamilton (1996) suggested that the community could have been named for the HMS Triton, however, he continues by writing "since the name appears in earlier records as Traytown or Troytown, it is undoubtedly another example of linguistic change of place names.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Troy Town' was a Devonshire room with its furniture disarrayed' [and] since Notre Dame Bay appeared as a 'maze' of headlands and islands the transition effected by West Country fishermen becomes clear".

History, according to ENL sources, has suggested that Little Triton (aka Triton East) was the first to be settled, most likely as far back as 1830 or 1840, however there is a strong possibility that the area was used earlier in time by seasonal fishing crews whose home port was Twillingate.

The actual town of Triton first appears in the Census of 1845 when there were 17 residents recorded. In 2016, the population of Triton was recorded as being 983, a slight decrease of 1.5% from the 998 recorded in 2011.

Brighton Tickle Island and Cobbler Island, while two separated islands are home to the community of Brighton (that spans both islands).

While its name now is considered to be a "commendatory" name, in the past, its former name, Dark Tickle, might have been considered "condemnatory" by some.

After the Post office was built, the Nomenclature Committee renamed it Brighton. The Central Newfoundland Tourism website states that Brighton was chosen as the new name because of its "optimistic spirit".

Brighton's population has increase over the past decade. In 2011 there were 171 residents, while in 2016 there were 188 (a 9.9% increase).
