Sandy Cove: The name chosen for this community is pretty much self explanatory. The Heritage NL website describes the settlement "pattern" of this area as follows:
Basically it involved an "up the bay" migration of families from older established cod fishing (supplemented by sealing) communities situated in relatively barren environments to well-wooded locations with some farming
potential.
These locations had been previously wood cutting and winter residence quarters. Eastport, Happy Adventure and Sandy Cove were permanently settled within about decade of each other and for the same basic reasons.
Like most of the small communities in Newfoundland, the population has decreased over time; the 2016 census showed a total of 122 people, a 7.6% from the 132 counted in 2011.
