Appleton: Located on the east bank of the Gander River, opposite Glenwood, Appleton was settled circa 1900. The town was named after Mr. Appleton Cleaves, the manager of the local lumbering operation, which, unfortunately for the community in 1914.
At last census count (2016) the community had 574 residents, a 7.7% decrease from the 622 of 2011.
