Port Kirwan: Located further south on the peninsula south of Ferryland, the community was first known as Admiral's Cove, like several other Admiral's Cove.
It was renamed in 1960 when the Post Office needed to differentiate it from all the others.
It was renamed Port Kirwan after Rev. Mother Mary Bernard Kirwan who founded a convent in Admiral's Cove in 1853. The population in 2016 was recorded as being only 52, a dramatic 20.0% decrease from the 65 recorded in 2011.
