Heart's Delight, 17.3 km (10.7 mi) south of Heart's Content, was possibly named after the "heart shaped" harbour. John Sooley, on his website that traces the history of the area records the following bit of "local lore": Heart's Delight is believed to have received its name from a traveller from Whitbourne, who after arriving in this cove found his "heart delighted" and decided to spend the night.

In the morning, travelling further, he beheld his "heart's desire"; continuing on, he came to his "heart's content". In retrospect, this is probably false because Heart's Content was settled earlier than Heart's Delight.

Heart's Delight was settled in the late 18th or early 19th century, again because of its close proximity to the water where the cod fishing grounds where. Hearts Delight became incorporated October 24, 1972 with the nearby town of Islington and is now referred to as Heart's Delight-Islington, and appropriately, the town's motto is "Together we Grow".

According to the 2016 Census, there were 674 inhabitants in the combined community (down 4.3% from 2011). In one website devoted to the area of Heart's Delight-Islington, it is stated that Islington was first called Island Cove, because of the large island present in the cove.

However, it is suggested there that there were too many communities by the same name, so some of residents decided, in 1911, to rename it after the town of Islington in England because of the resemblance between the two communities.
