Bishop's Cove: Located in Conception Bay, Bishop's Cove was originally called Bread and Cheese Cove when it was first settled around 1755.
For some unknown reason, the "bread and cheese" reference is to the leaf and berry of the hawthorn tree. It was renamed "Bishop's Cove" by a Bishop of the Church of England, some time between 1836 and 1845.
The population in 2016 was recorded as being 287, a 4.4% increase from 2011 when there were 275 residents.
