Tizzard's Harbour: According to the ENL, Tizzard's Harbour was an early outpost of Twillingate (approximately 6 km or 3.7 mi to the northeast).
Twillingate was "the major harbour out of which English fishing firms operated in Notre Dame Bay from the mid-1700s".
The community is named after one of the early families that moved to the area some time after it was originally settled in the late 1790s or early 1800s.
"With a fine harbour offering access to headland fishing grounds, as well a substantial hinterland and a ready supply of bait in Friday's Bay, Tizzard's Harbour grew rapidly, to 298 people by 1874.
In 2016 the population had "shrunk" to 55 residents.
