Tea Cove: Located in the past north of Lourdes, Tea Cove is now an abandoned community, but still on some maps. Its name, according to material written in the ENL was given because "a brook empties into the cove, and the sea in the area does indeed have the colour of weak tea (with milk)".
The community was settled by families from Black Duck Brook and over time small farms sprung up. By 1935, the population had grown to 32 but by the late 1940s the population started to decline and by 1951 there were only 12 inhabitants.
The main reason for the decline goes back to when the road was built to connect West Bay and Lourdes. In a nutshell, Tea Cove was by-passed. Eventually by 1958 there was only one resident and he moved to Mainland in 1967 and that was the end of the "road" for the cove.
