284 HEAD BAY D'ESPOIR |
Newfoundland Tourism Region : Central
St. Veronica's: Located at the head of Bay d'Espoir, according to information presented in the ENL" until it received a separate post office in 1947, was usually considered the 'other side' of the community of Head of Bay d'Espoir".
St. Veronica is the woman who offered a cloth to Jesus so He could wipe His face on the way to His crucifixion (that cloth is believed to exist in the Vatican, a treasured relic of the Catholic Church]. Who chose the name is unknown (at least to the research team).
