Skibbereen: Located south of Avalon, the Irish town of Skibbereen, which is on the southern shore of Ireland is often shortened to "Skibb" means "little boat harbour".
Skibbereen, Newfoundland was named after the town of the same name in Country Cork. Skibbereen in Newfoundland, however, is not on the ocean.
And finally, there were a few "other" Irish communities that sprang up in areas other than the Avalon Peninsula, which will be included in this section. Examples of six such communities, include Tilting, Fogo, King's Cove, Gooseberry Islands, St Lawrence, and Harbour Breton.
