Seldom-Little Seldom: Located on the south side of Fogo Island, not only is this community often in the lists of "oddball" names of Newfoundland, but the story behind the name is also a favorite of many.
According to Brooks (2013) the community, on Fogo Island, was known originally as Seldom-Go-By and later Seldom-Come-By.
According to many the name originates from the beginnings of the migratory fishery.
As the community was the first sheltered harbour north of Greenspond, with relatively easy access (i.e., no major shoals, etc.), early schooners were reported to "seldom by-pass" the harbour and instead would take refuge there.
Since 2011, through an amalgamation, Seldom-Little Seldom is now part of The Town of Fogo Island.
