Red Head Cove: Not to be confused with Red Cove that is an abandoned fishing village on the south coast east of Burgeo, Red Head Cove is a strikingly pretty little outport next to the community of Bay De Verde (on the shore from the Baccalicu Island Ecological Reserve).
The area consists of a steep V-shaped valley that ends at a very small cove that would give little or no shelter and given the terrain one wonders why anyone would choose to settle here, however there are a number of old salt box houses perched precariously on the side of the hill up from the cove.
To the north there is a headland, which is reddish in colour, giving the community its name no, it is not a community of Red Headed Irish colleens!
