Piccadilly: More accurately called Piccadilly Head, on the west side of the island was known by French fisherman as Pic Denis. Overtime, as the English moved into the area, Pic Denis became know as Piccadilly.
Nothing is known about the who, why, when, etc. behind the name, and even though Piccadilly is a famous road in England, Piccadilly Newfoundland is definitely not a transfer name.
