Petley: Located on the north side of Random Island on the shore of Smith Sound, the community was originally known as Lance Cove or Upper Lance Cove, but in 1915 was named after a Church of England missionary in the area, by the name of Henry Petley.
According to ENL sources, the modern community of Petley also includes Aspen Cove, just to the west of Lance Cove, which in most early records was considered a separate community.
