Old Shop: Located on the west side of Dildo Arm in Trinity Bay, the town's name is believed to have come from the original name of "Old Chop", for as far back as the early 1800s it was known as an area were trees were cut for shipbuilding.
According to ENL sources, John Kirby of Trinity built his first fishing premises there in 1817. For many years the area was logged by the "winter people" of Trinity, who visited to cut timbers that would be suitable in the boat building business.
