Monroe: Located to the east of Harcourt, Monroe was formerly known as Upper Rocky Brook. The community was renamed to honour Walter Stanley Monroe, who at the time was the owner of Monroe Export Company, a company that supplied local fishermen with supplies they needed. The change occurred in 1912.
