Nameless Cove vs. Mistaken Cove: Located on the west coast of the Great Northem Peninsula, both of these coves, now considered to be part of Flower's Cove, were named by Captain James Cook, in 1764.
While Flower Cove does not appear on the 1775 map, Flower Ledge (a ledge being a ridge of rocks, typically just under the water, i.c., an obvious nautical danger) does. According to the 2016 Census, the population of Flower's Cove area currently stands at 270 (plus 69 residents in Nameless Cove).
In August, 2019 the community celebrated Come Home Year, and over 400 former residents traveled to "come home" from as far away as Florida and Virginia in the USA and Alberta and British Columbia in Canada.
Imagine, if some one asked you "Where ya long's to?" and having to reply, "Nameless Cove" or "Mistaken Cove".
