Loreburn or Lore Burn: Formerly know as Long Cove, in 1912 the community name was changed to "Loreburn".
The change was probably the result of there being too many "Long Coves" in Newfoundland, however, it is unknown why the name "Loreburn" was chosen.
Originally settled in the mid 1800s, fishermen would use it as a winter tilting location, later many of the settlers came there because of the
abundance of good timber.
Through the 1800s and early 1900s the main source of work was the inshore fishery or lumbering.
Population started to decline in the 1960s and with the topography making it nearly impossible to construct a road to the outport as the cove was hemmed in by surrounding hills, the remaining families petitioned the government to be resettled and in 1967 the seven families moved to either St. Jones' Within or Little Heart's Ease.
