Lead Cove: Located on the southeastem side of Trinity Bay, there are two possibilities for the derivation of the name of this cove.
Is it plausible that the name comes from the geological findings that show that there are lead-gray rocks surrounding the shallow cove, or, does it come from local "history" that has suggested that the earliest settler, Abraham Button, who had settled in Old Perican, but due to some type of dissatisfaction" with where he was, chose to leave and consequently "led" not only his immediate family, but also over time his brother, Jim
Brookings, and his friend George Lambert to join him in a new community that was to become known as "Lead Cove"?
