L'Anse-Amour: Located, next "up the coast" from L'Anse-Au-Clair, is the town L'Anse- Amour. Literally translated from the French, L'Anse-Amour has the commendatory name of the "Cove of Love", however, in fact it has been suggested that, in fact, its name is a distortion of an earlier name, Point-aux-Morts or "Dead Man's Point" - how macabre!

According to the Southern Labrador website the population of L'Anse-Amour is only 8, however, the actual town and surrounding area which makes up the census subdivision "called L'Anse- Amour (i.e., Division No. 10, Subdivision A) the population (in 2016) was recorded as having 61 residents (a staggering 24.5% increase over the period of the previous Census in 2011 when it was recorded as having only 49 residents).

One family, the Davis family has lived in the cove for the past 150 years and "were actually granted ownership of the land by King George V for all their efforts when the HMS Raleigh went ashore".

The Raleigh was a British light cruiser that went ashore in the cove in 1922. There are limited services in L'Anse- Amour and like others along the coast the residents have to travel to Forteau, to the east, for supplies.

From the website the town has a very favorable description: L'Anse-Amour is a picturesque small community in Forteau Bay. At times especially when the caplin are "rolling, minke and humpback whales come right into the bay".
