Green's Harbour: Located just south of Whiteway, Seary (1971, cited in the ENL) reported that the Harbour was shown on maps as early as 1775.

The renowned geologist, J.B. Jukes referred to the area as Green Bay and noted that fertile-looking land in the region supported a luxuriant growth of white clover.

It is believed that "the numerous trees in the area which first attracted settlers because of the potential for boatbuilding gave rise to the descriptive name 'Green Harbour".

Seary mentions the possibility that "the frequent and early listing of Green's Harbour with an apostrophe could indicate that the possessive form of the name derived from the English family name Green, which is widespread in England and present at Green's Harbour among the founding family names".

Settled in the early 1800s from families predominantly from southern England, Old Perlican and Heart's Content, "the need for larger ships became more pressing with the development of the Labrador fishery".

As a result, Green's Harbour took on "a greater importance,as a shipbuilding centre and base for the Labrador fishery". The population of Green's Harbour has increased significantly over the past few years.

In 2016 there were 642 residents, a 20.2% increase from the 534 recorded in 2011.
