Newfoundland Tourism Region : Western
The following settlements were named by Cook and Lane, one can assume, just because they liked the names.
Green Island Brook and Green Island Cove (aka Green Island Harbour): Located on the southeast shore of the Strait of Belle Isle, Cook named these communities in 1764 after a small grassy island located about 1.3 km (.81 mi) offshore.
Guess what- the island is green in colour! The Cove is slightly more populated than the Brook (185 vs 165)
