Blue Cove: Located just past Plum Point, Blue Cove was first settled by French fishermen as far back as the 1800s. According to ENL sources, French fisherman probably "followed the fish down the coast from Ferolle to St. Barbe Bay".

Originally the cove was known as Blue Guts Cove (Why? Who knows?) but the "Guts" were deleted, circa 1910, when Dr. W.W. Blackall "advised" that they be "dropped".

William Walker Blackall was an educator, who in 1908 became "Superintendent of Education for the Church of England, a position he held for twenty-five years.

In 1898 he took in organizing the Newfoundland Teacher's Association and later became its president. He also helped form the Newfoundland Amateur Athletic Association and was its first president".
