Unfortunate Cove: Located near Big Brook on the western shore of the Great Northern Peninsula, the cove is best known as the "resting place" of the shipwreck of the ship, the Empire Energy, built in 1923.
History records that it left Sydney, NS on the 29th of October, 1941 and was attacked by U Boats during WWII. It left Sydney again, and on the 5th of November, 1941 and ran aground at this spot. However, how it got its name, to some, is unknown.
According to Cook's log, in Unfortunate Cove he (unfor-tunately) injured his hand, but the details of the injury are unknown.
