Bear Cove: Located north of St. Barbe, the community's name has a bit of an "odd" twist.
Local lore is that an early settler looked out into the cove and thought he saw a man, but the man turned out to be a bear - that must have given him a bit of a scare!
Today it is a small community with only 82 residents. This is not the only Bear Cove on the Great Northern Peninsula. The other is further south, considered to be part of Rocky Harbour.
