One other town has a Beothuk "connection".
Alexander Bay Station, which was on the Clarenville Branch of the Newfoundland Railway was previously known as Bloody Bay or Bloody Reach after a conflict between Beothuks and European settlers.
Local lore maintains that Beothuks, who were inhabitants in the bay, slaughtered an entire family of eleven men. The name of the family is recorded as Kearly, Early or Curley.
It was renamed after William Alexander, a local merchant, and is now part of Glovertown.
